No. 8 Wrestling Sends Three To Division III Championships

Springfield, Mass. - Springfield College sophomore All-American Mike Gaeta, sophomore Mark DeCicco and senior captain Brian Viglione will represent SC at the NCAA Division III Championships on Friday-Saturday, March 4-5 at St. Olaf in Minnesota.

Gaeta (Manalapan, N.J.), who finished fourth at last years NCCA Division III championship, attempts to earn his second All-American honor. Gaeta won his second-straight 141-pound NECCWA title, sweeping five-straight matches, including a 45-second pin in the championship. Gaeta went 32-6 over the season and tallied seven pins along the way.

DeCiccio (Cranston, R.I.) competes in his first national championship by sweeping five matches en route to the 149-pound NECCWA title. DeCiccio compiled an 18-8 record and three pin falls.

Viglione (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished second in the NECCWA 174-pound weight class and received a wild card for the second-straight season to the NCAA Championships. Viglione was injured for part of the season, but still posted an impressive 25-9 record along the way.
