Marisa Clapp Selected ECAC's Top Runner
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Nov. 6, 2002 - Springfield College junior Marisa Clapp is the ECAC Division III Performer of the Week in women's cross country.
This is the second time this season that the four-time All-American has earned the distinction.
Clapp, a junior from Charlton, Mass., won the New England Women's
and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Cross Country Championship to
lead the Pride to fourth place with 93 points in the 10-team field. The
conference's Runner-of the Year covered the 3.1-mile course in a time of
18:02, which is a Wellesley College course record. She was 36 second better than the second-place finisher.
Clapp and her teammates will compete at the ECAC Championship this Sat., Nov. 9 at Williams College.

Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
