Men's Soccer Falls to Clark, 1-0, in NEWMAC Tournament

WORCESTER, Mass., November 2, 2005 – Springfield College junior goalkeeper Ryan Driscoll (Wilmington, Del.) tallied four saves, but the Pride fell to host Clark University in a close, 1-0 first round match-up of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament this evening (Nov. 2) in Worcester.

The third-seeded Cougars (13-2-2) tallied the only goal of the match with just 4:22 remaining in regulation on an unassisted score by senior Sattha Prasitwarakul, as Clark advances to face MIT in the semifinal round of the NEWMAC Tournament at Wheaton College on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 5).

The sixth-seeded Pride (4-12-1) played Clark evenly throughout the entire match, as both teams finished with exactly 12 shots, and SC held a 6-3 advantage in shots during the second half. The Pride was unable to muster any offense, however, as Cougar goalkeeper Matt Talbot made six saves to help advance Clark. For SC, it was the Pride's eighth one-goal loss of the season.
