WORCESTER, Mass., April 30, 2005 -- Springfield College junior Meg Young (Hurley, N.Y.) won the 10,000-meter run (38:15.89) as the Pride took third place in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women Track & Field Championship on Saturday at WPI.
Wheaton out distanced the field by scoring 186.5 points, followed by MIT (172), SC (135), Smith (118.5), Coast Guard (68), WPI (46), Mount Holyoke (34) and Babson (18).
Sophomore Natasha Landon (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) captured first place in the pole vault (10-11.75) while Sarah Martin (Madison, N.H.) was victorious in the triple jump (34-00.25)
Second-team all NEWMAC honors for the Pride included junior Christina Davis (Orange, Conn.) in the shot put (37-01) and discus (115-10), junior Sarah Tyman (Suffield, Conn.) in the 800 (2:21.37) and junior Yasmin Goris (Worcester, Mass.) in the 100 (13.07).
SC will compete this weekend at the Division III New England Championships at Bates.
