Wrestling Rallies To Defeat Montclair St. In Dual-Meet Finale, 34-10

MONTCLAIR, N.J., February 8, 2006 - Springfield College freshman Alex Klinoff (Concord, Mass.) pinned Montclair State's Lamar Taylor at the 6:56 mark of their 184-pound bout as the Pride, ranked 26th in Division III, defeated the Red Hawks, 34-10, in its final dual-meet of the 2005-'06 season on Wednesday evening at Panzer Gymnasium.

After falling behind to an early 10-0 deficit, SC responded by winning the final seven matches to take the 34-10 victory. Junior Erik Delehanty (Clinton, Conn.) gave the Pride its first lead of the meet, at 12-10, with a pinfall over Montclair's Steve Bradley at 157 pounds. Senior Bill Koch (Hackettstown, N.J.) maded the score 16-10 with a 12-4 major decision win at 165 pounds, and the lead grew to nine points (19-10) as junior Andre Lee (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) registered a 12-6 win at 174 pounds.

Klinoff's pin over Lamar Taylor was the clincher for SC, as the Pride improves to 12-8 overall in its final dual-meet of the season. In the heavyweight division (285 lbs.), junior Phil McGeough (Clifton Park, N.Y.) edged Montclair State's Bill Beiermeister, 4-3, in overtime. The two battled through 12 minutes of action before McGeough was awarded the win based on riding time (seven seconds).

SC will next compete in the New England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) Championships on Friday and Saturday, February 18-19, hosted by Wesleyan University.
