Clapp Wins NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Championship
WORCESTER, Mass., Nov. 1, 2003 -
Springfield College senior All-American Marisa Clapp (Charlton, Mass.) earned her third
consecutive New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Cross-Country Runner of the Year honor, finishing
first out of 98 runners to lead the Pride to a fourth place finish at the NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Championship this afternoon at Hillside
Park in Boylston, Mass.
Clapp, who won this race in 2001 and 2002, covered the 5,000-meter course in a time of
17:30.61.
SC sophomore Meghan Young (Hurley, N.Y.) ran to a fourth place finish (18:27.29) and sophomore Emily Michaud (Caribou, Maine) placed 12th (19:08.03). Young and Michaud both earned All-Conference honors.
