

WORCESTER, Mass., December 7, 2005 - Springfield College freshman Luke Gabordi (Ledyard, Conn.) registered a pin at 2:44 over WPI's Devin Sapir in the 157-pound weight class as the No. 8 Pride cruised past the Engineers, 41-6, in SC's first dual meet of the season on Wednesday evening (Dec. 7) in Worcester, Mass.
The Pride (1-0) won all but one bout on the evening, compiling a total of 41 points en-route to picking up the victory in its first dual meet of the season. At 133 pounds, freshman Bill Heuschneider (Gales Ferry, Conn.) recorded an 18-1 decision over WPI's Pat Campagnola.
Other top performances for SC on the night included junior Mark DeCiccio (Cranston, R.I.), who picked up a 17-1 win at 149 pounds, and sophomore Scott Heinze (Miller Place, N.Y.), who picked up a shutout win (10-0) at 165 pounds.
The Pride will next travel to Norwich University on Saturday afternoon, December 10, in a 12:00 p.m. start.

Former Springfield College All-American Daryl Arroyo will be entering his 19th season as the head wrestling coach at his alma mater in 2008-09. Under his tutelage, the Springfield College wrestling program has posted a 265-141-6 overall dual-meet record, good for an outstanding .650 winning percentage.
