Women's Gymnastics Falls At Brown, 190.375-183.425

PROVIDENCE, R.I., Feb. 15, 2004 -- Springfield College freshman Keriann Hart (Hanover, Mass.) set a school record in the all-around competition with a 37.375 mark in a 190.375-183.425 loss at Brown on Sunday. She topped the previous record of 37.05 set by Tammy Cutrumbes in 1996. Hart is ranked sixth in Division III in the uneven bars with an average score of 9.300.

Despite the loss, SC (6-6 overall) is off to its best start since the 2000 campaign when it finished 8-6 in dual-meet competition and placed third at the National College Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Division III National Championships.

Senior Jenny Romano-Joseph (Shutesbury, Mass.) has been one of the Pride’s top performers in ’04. She is currently ranked sixth nationally in Division III on the floor exercise with an average score of 9.5625, and 12th in the vault with an average score of 9.4625. Among her best efforts of the season was a second-place finish on the vault (9.525) in a tri-meet at Cal-Davis (Jan. 16), and she scored a season-best 9.625 in the floor exercise on Jan. 24 in a tri-meet with Brockport and Cortland.
