No. 10 Men's Lacrosse Loses Heartbreaker, 9-8, On Last-Second Goal

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Hartwick College sophomore attackman
Brian Miller tallied the game-winning goal with nine seconds left in the fourth quarter to lift the Hawks past No. 10 Springfield College, 9-8, in men’s lacrosse action, Saturday.
Miller converted a pass from senior attackman Noah Hollander to give the Hawks (3-1) the non-conference victory.
Springfield (0-2) held a 2-1 lead at the end of the first quarter and took a 5-3 lead into halftime.
Hartwick scored five straight goals in the third quarter and held an 8-5 lead heading into the fourth.
The Pride scored three unanswered goals in the fourth and tied the game at 8-8 when senior attackman
Shawn Cofrin (Derry, N.H.) converted a pass from midfielder
Craig Gibson (South Salem, N.Y.) with 1:41 left.
Springfield received two goals apiece from senior midfielder
Adam Cost (Camillus, N.Y.), senior attackman
Lars Keil (Andover, Mass.) and senior midfielder
Mark Maitland (Salem, Mass.). Cofrin and junior attackman
Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.) each had one goal.
Sophomore goaltender
Kyle Cloutier (South Hadley, Mass.) registered eight saves in 60 minutes for the Pride, who finished with a 48-28 advantage in shots.
