Army Wins ECAC/EIGL Alpha Factor Men's Gymnastics Team Championship

Saturday's Individual Event Results

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., March 25 – University of Illinois-Chicago junior Eric Novick (Colonia, N.J.) won the all-round championship, while Army won the team championship on the first day of action at the ECAC/EIGL Alpha Factor Men’s Gymnastics Championships, hosted by Springfield College.

Army totaled 214.025 points, followed by Temple University (210.975) and William & Mary (210.350) to round out the top-three teams of the eight-team field. Host Springfield compiled 201.200 points for a sixth-place showing.

Novick totaled 52.450 points to win the all-around title, including a fifth-place effort on rings (9.25) and a sixth-place showing in pommel horse (8.950)

UIC senior Neil Faustino (Stockton, Calif.) finished first in the vault (9.525) and the floor exercise (9.050) while taking third in rings (9.60), as Temple freshman Luke Vexler (Amherst, Mass.) won the pommel horse (9.40) and tied for fourth in the floor exercise (8.925).

Springfield senior Nelson Jimenez (Salem, N.H.) finished second in vault (9.350) to qualify for Saturday’s event finals, which start at 3:00 p.m. The top-eight finishers in each individual event qualify for Saturday’s event finals.
