Men’s Gymnastics Competes at Army Invitational
BROCKPORT, N.Y., Jan. 29, 2005 – The Springfield College women’s gymnastics squad placed fourth out of a field of five teams this past Saturday at SUNY Brockport.
SUNY Brockport won the meet (186.800) followed by SUNY Cortland (185.950), Ithaca (185.075),
Springfield (183.725) and Rhode Island (173.675).
Sophomore
Jillian Silverman (Ipswich, Mass.) placed third overall on the vault with a score of 9.450. On the uneven bars, SC’s top finisher was freshman
Cara Chadbourne (New Salem, Mass.) who placed eighth with a score of 9.100.
Freshman
Katlyn Cronin (Manchester, N.H.) and
Kerry McGowan (East Lyme, Conn.) tied for eighth place overall in the balance beam with a score of 9.400.
On the men’s side, the team placed eighth overall at the West Point Open competing against many Division I schools.
Senior All-American
Nelson Jimenez (Salem, N.H.) placed 23rd overall in the all-around competition with a score of 47.200.
Junior All-American
Aric Hines (Greensboro, N.C.) and sophomore All-American
Scott Goff (Syracuse, N.Y.) placed 43rd and 44th in the all-around with scores of 39.400 and 38.600, respectively.
