SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Feb. 2, 2005 – Twenty-six Springfield College student-athletes were named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Fall Academic All-Conference Team.
SC's 26 honorees ranked behind only MIT (41) and Coast Guard (36) in the 10-team conference.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2004 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at his or her institution, and been a member of a varsity team for the entire season.
Fall sports sponsored by the NEWMAC include: field hockey, men's and women's cross country, men's golf, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.
The NEWMAC is comprised of 10 Division III institutions: Babson, Clark, Coast Guard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke, Smith, Springfield College, Wellesley, Wheaton, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
