



BOSTON, Mass. - March 2, 2008 - The Springfield College men's track and field team competed in the Open New England Championships over the weekend and finished 13th out of 33 teams.
The meet, hosted by Boston University, featured some of the top talent in New England from all three divisions of intercollegiate athletics.
Steve Headley finished second in the 55 meter dash, as he continued his incredible indoor season with a time of 6.36 in the finals.
In the 800 meter race, Mike Griffin finished in fifth place with a time of 1:54.04. The four runners that placed in front of Griffin were from the University of Connecticut and Providence College.
The other two members of the squad that recorded points for the Pride were John Lewis and Dominick Ucuccioni in the weight throw. Uguccioni finished in fifth with a toss of 56-01.75 while Lewis placed eighth with a mark of 54-05.50.

Ken Klatka, enters his 36th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2010-2011. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 433 wins, 141 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
