Andrew Constant has been chosen Springfield College's Male Maroon Club Athlete of the Week (Apr. 14) after leading the men's tennis team to a key 3-0 week as the Pride defeated a trio of New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opponents this week.
A native of Kingston, N.Y., Constant has anchored the Pride as he has played at No. 1 singles this year. He has helped the Pride rattle off four-straight victories, including three against conference opponents last week.
In the Pride's 9-0 win over Clark on Monday, Constant cruised past Adam Bisceglia, 6-1, 6-2 after teaming up with Joe Lisi to win at No. 1 doubles in a 8-1 victory.
The following day, Constant defeated Ryan Beck of Coast Guard, 6-0, 6-4, as the Pride won 7-2 over its conference rivals.
On Saturday afternoon, the Pride won its fourth-straight match with a 7-2 win over Wheaton at Springfield's Appleton Courts. Constant and Lisi took the No. 1 doubles with a 8-3 win before Constant won for the third time this week at No. 1 singles, defeating Greg Poulin, 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-1.
