Box Score/Play-by-Play

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass., January 9, 2007 - Springfield College sophomore center Lauren O'Connor (Valhalla, N.Y.) notched her seventh double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds to go along with four steals, but the Pride fell at Mount Holyoke College, 62-45, this evening in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action.

With the loss, SC has now dropped four straight contests, as the Pride is 4-8 overall on the season and 0-2 in conference play. The Lyons of Mount Holyoke improve to 9-4 overall and a perfect 2-0 in league match-ups.

Junior guard Tara McCarthy (Bristol, R.I.) scored a team-high 12 points on the night, going 4-for-7 from the field to go along with eight boards, two assists and two blocks. In the end, SC could not overcome its shooting woes, as the Pride connected on just 33.3 percent (18-54) of its total field goal attempts for the game.

Mount Holyoke was led by Angela Astuccio with a game-best 20 points, as she also added a team-high eight caroms. Marisa Barone and Jessica Olson also contributed with double figures, adding 14 and 11 points, respectively.

The Pride looks to turn things around when it returns to Blake Arena for its NEWMAC home opener on Thursday evening, January 11th, in a 7:00 p.m. start against the Coast Guard Bears.
