Clapp Finishes Fifth At NCAA Division III New England Regional

WESTFIELD, Mass., Nov. 16, 2002 – Springfield College junior
Marisa Clapp (Charlton, Mass.) finished fifth out of 273 runners at the NCAA Division III New England Regional this afternoon at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass.
Clapp finished the 6K course in a time of 21:11 to pace the Pride to a 16th place showing out of 51 teams. Clapp was also selected as a member of the NCAA All-Region team.
Clapp will compete in the NCAA Division III National Championship next Saturday in Northfield, Minnesota. In 2001, she earned All-America honors when she placed 12th at the national championship.

Jim Pennington enters his 26th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2008-2009. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
