No. 12 Men's Lacrosse Advances To Pilgrim League Championships With 7-4 Win Over Lasell

Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.) tallied three goals to lead the No. 12 Pride over Lasell College, 7-4, in the semifinals of the Pilgrim League Tournament in men’s lacrosse this afternoon on Benedum Field.
The top-seeded Pride (11-4), which has won 11-straight games, will host the Pilgrim League Championship game this Saturday (May 7) against second-seeded Western New England with a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament on the line. SC, which will be making its sixth-straight tournament final appearance, has won four of the last five Pilgrim League titles.
Lasell (10-5) sophomore attackman Al Zayac gave the Lasers a 1-0 lead with 6:25 to play in the first quarter, before SC senior attackman
Shawn Cofrin (Derry, N.H.) evened the score 43 seconds later to make the score 1-1 after the first 15 minutes of play.
Four unanswered Pride goals, including two-straight by senior midfielder
Derek Pedrick (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) in a 1:36 span, put the Pride up, 5-1, with 4:56 to play in the first half. The first of two goals in the game by Lasell junior attackman Louis Lucchetti made the halftime score, 5-2, in favor of the Pride.
Brown’s second goal of the game with 39 seconds on the clock accounted for the only goal of the third quarter, as SC led, 6-2.
Brown’s third goal came on an extra-man opportunity to put the Pride up, 7-2, with 14:13 to play in the game. Lucchetti’s second goal at the 2:33 mark, followed 26 seconds later by a tally by junior attackman Kyle Minaker, finished the game for the 7-4 final.

Kyle Cloutier (South Hadley, Mass.) picked up his ninth victory of the season, turning away eight shots, while Lasell freshman Mark DeMieri was credited with 12 saves.
