

WORCESTER, Mass., October 26, 2005 – Springfield College sophomore forward Brittany Veazie (Dexter, Maine) scored her ninth goal of the season in the second minute of overtime (71:11) as the No. 10 Pride defeated the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), 1-0, this afternoon (Oct. 26) in Worcester, Mass.
Off an assist from junior midfielder Janna Prachniak (Lincoln, R.I.), Veazie was able to find the back of the net from five yards out, as SC improves to an impressive 7-0 this season in overtime games. Sophomore goalkeeper Julia Kincade (Durham, NH) had a strong outing in her second start of the season, saving two shots en route to improving her overall record to 3-0, while recording her first shutout of the year.
The win improves the Pride’s record to 17-2 overall and 7-1 in the NEWMAC as SC finishes its regular season with six-straight wins. The Pride has also won 14 of its past 15 contests. The Pride will host a first round NEWMAC Tournament game this Saturday, October 29, with the time and opponent to be determined later.
After only four years as head coach of the Pride, Melissa Rogers, has continued the SC tradition of winning on the field hockey turf, posting an impressive 78-17 record, good for a winning percentage of .821 at the helm of her alma mater. Read more.
