Wrestling Places 7th at the NEWA Team Dual Championship
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 20, 2008) – The Springfield College wrestling team won two matches, but lost two others at today’s New England Wrestling Association Team Dual Championship at Bridgewater State College. The Pride was seeded seventh, and finished seventh as a team.The team results were as follows: JWU, RIC, Williams, Bridgewater State, Roger Williams, Southern Maine, Springfield, Plymouth State, Wesleyan, Coast Guard, Norwich, WNEC, WPI, Trinity, and MIT.
Four Springfield College wrestlers won three bouts as individuals during the meet on Sunday. They were freshman 133-pounder Blaze Chatham (Walkill, N.Y.) (one by pin), senior 141-pounder Jamie Sgaglione (No. Massapequa, N.Y.) (two by pin), senior 149-pounder Chris DeBlock (Sparta, N.J.) (one by pin), and senior 165-pounder Jake Tyler (Gouverneur, N.Y.).

Head Coach Daryl Arroyo
Former Springfield College All-American Daryl Arroyo will be entering his 19th season as the head wrestling coach at his alma mater in 2008-09. Under his tutelage, the Springfield College wrestling program has posted a 265-141-6 overall dual-meet record, good for an outstanding .650 winning percentage.
