Women's Volleyball Downs Emmanuel, Falls To Williams In NCAA Tournament
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., November 13, 2004 - Springfield College junior
Alesia Vaccari (Winsted, Conn.) registered 24 assists and a pair of service aces but it was Williams College downing the Pride, 3-0 (30-15, 30-20, 30-20) in the NCAA Division III New England Region Women's Volleyball Championship, Saturday, in Williamstown.
SC moved into the regional final with a 3-0 (30-19, 30-12, 30-28) win over Emmanuel College on Friday night in the semifinals. Sophomore middle blocker
Mary Kathryn O'Neil (Liverpool, N.Y.) totaled 11 kills and four service aces, while senior
Christine Jones (Wallingford, Conn.) added 10 kills and four digs to lead the Pride.
This was the second-consecutive appearance in the regional championship match for the Pride (26-8), which also won its second-straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship last Saturday after upsetting the confernce tournament's top two seeds.
