KEENE, N.H., March 22, 2007 – Springfield College senior attack Ashley Martell (Billerica, Mass.) scored four goals and added two assists as the Pride downed non-conference foe Keene State College, 15-4, this afternoon at the Owl Athletic Complex.
Senior attack Rachel Lampros (Boxborough, Mass.) added three goals and three assists for SC, which improves its record to 4-1 overall on the season. Senior attack Heidi Eidse (Bryn Athyn, Pa.) added two goals and three assists, while senior midfielder Lisa Thomas (Whitman, Mass.) finished with three goals each for the visiting Pride.
Junior attack Michelle Mazzotta scored two goals for the Owls (0-2), as senior attack Megan Moran and freshman attack Dene Tully tallied single goals for Keene State.
Keene State took an early 3-2 lead on a goal by Tully at the 13:03 mark of the first half. SC scored the next four goals, however, to take a 6-3 halftime lead. After trading goals in the opening minutes of the second stanza, the Pride then went on to score the next eight goals of the game to take the 15-4 victory.
Jen Gearing made seven saves in goal for the Owls. Freshman Lauren McAuley (Yorktown, N.Y.) finished with four saves for the Pride in upping her season record to 5-1.
SC will next host Plymouth State University at Benedum Field on Tuesday evening, March 27th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Pride's home opener.
