Women's Lacrosse Falls in Shootout at Williams College, 20-16

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., April 5, 2006 - Springfield College junior midfielder Rachel Lampros (Boxborough, Mass.) scored a career-best six goals in a non-conference contest at Williams College this afternoon, but it was the Ephs which defeated the Pride in an offensive showcase in Williamstown, Mass., 20-16.

Williams (5-2) opened the game on a 4-0 run, as the Ephs scored seven of the game's first nine goals on the way to building a 12-7 halftime advantage. The second half proved to be much closer, as SC outscored Williams by a 9-8 margin, but it wasn't enough as the Ephs recorded the four-goal victory. The Pride falls to 4-4 overall on the 2006 season with the defeat.

Other top performers for SC included senior forward Holly Carmody (Wayland, Mass.) with five goals and an assist, junior forward Heidi Eidse (Bryn Athyn, Pa.) with two goals and an assist, and sophomore midfielder Lindsay Bugbee (Granby, Conn.) with two scores.

Junior midfielder Lisa Thomas (Whitman, Mass.) chipped in with a goal, as senior defender Christine Nicol (Farmington, Conn.) contributed with an assist on one of Lampros' scores.

Williams was led by senior midfielder Rachel Barr with an impressive nine goals and one assist, as junior midfielder Kaylan Tildsley added five scores and two assists, and freshman midfielder Britt Spackman recorded a solid all-around game with three goals and four assists.

The Pride will next return to New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action as it hosts Wheaton College on Saturday afternoon, April 8th, in a 12:00 p.m. start.
