Behind Record-Setting Performances, Men's Indoor Track and Field Places Sixth at ECAC's
Complete ResultsSPRINGFIELD, Mass. - March 8, 2008 - Paced by a record-setting performance in the 4x220 relay, the Springfield College men's track and field team placed sixth out of 58 teams this past weekend at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships.
The Pride's 4x220 relay team comprised of Steve Headley, Nickel Hay, Matt Amendola, and Tim Rehm ran an ECAC record time of 1:30.17 en route to a first place finish. That mark also set a new Springfield College record.
Headley also was terrifc in the 55-meter dash as he tied for first place with a blazing time of 6.33. His time was an NCAA Championships Automatic Qualifying time.
In the weight throw, both John Lewis and Dom Uguccioni registered NCAA Provisional qualifying tosses. Lewis finished in fourth place with a toss of 17.11m (56-1.75), while Uguccioni placed in sixth with a throw of 16.72m (54-10.25).

Head Coach Ken Klatka
Ken Klatka, enters his 36th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2010-2011. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 433 wins, 141 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
