

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., – September 20, 2006 – The 2-0 Springfield College football team has been ranked #1 in New England according to this year’s first New England Division III Coaches poll.
Springfield garnered 114 total points (and four first-place votes) to 2nd-place Trinity’s 110 total points (and eight first-place votes). In addition, SC was ranked 21st nationally by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette and 34th nationally (up 10 spots) by D3football.com.

Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 27th season as a head football coach in the fall of 2008. He enters his 25th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 24 years (1984 through 2007, inclusive), he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater.
