Adam Feit Accepts Invitation to the Aztec Bowl
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – November 15, 2006 – Senior offensive guard Adam Feit of the Springfield College football team has accepted an invitation to play in the Aztec Bowl in Aguscalientes, Mexico on Saturday, December 16.
The acceptance is contingent upon Springfield’s not reaching the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, the NCAA Division III National Championship game that is to be played in Salem, Virginia on the same day. The Pride would have to win four games in order to play in that contest.
The Aztec Bowl is an All-Star game played between teams comprised of many of the very best seniors from the Division III level in the United States versus some of the very best College players in Mexico. It has grown into a very competitive annual battle.
This year’s U.S. coaching staff will be led by former Widener and Delaware Valley Head Coach Bill Manlove. He will be assisted by current and former Division III coaches Bob Packard of Baldwin-Wallace, Don DeWaard of Central (Iowa), J.R. Bishop of Wheaton (Ill.), Wally Hood of Otterbein, and Nick Mourouzis of Depauw.
Feit, a 6-2, 250-pound offensive lineman from Chicopee, Massachusetts and a graduate of Chicopee Comprehensive High School, has been a main cog in Springfield’s success this year. SC is currently 9-1 overall as it enters the NCAA Division III playoffs this weekend as the #2 seed in the East Regional. The Pride will play Curry this Saturday in the first-round of the NCAA’s at 12 noon at SC’s Benedum Field.
Feit has started all 10 games this season. He was one of five players selected to the d3football.com National Team of the Week following SC’s 41-34 victory over Alfred on September 23, during which the team rushed for 415 yards. He has also been part of the offensive line that has spearheaded SC’s #1 ranking in Team Rushing Offense all year long. Springfield is currently averaging 387.7 yards rushing per game, 97.8 yards better than the nation’s #2-ranked rushing team (Mount Union). Seven times this season, Springfield has rushed for 350 yards or better. Four times, it has rushed for 400 yards or better.

Head Coach Mike DeLong
Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 27th season as a head football coach in the fall of 2008. He enters his 25th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 24 years (1984 through 2007, inclusive), he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater. Mike had also been the head coach at Maine Maritime in Castine, Maine in 1979 and 1980. Read more.
