SALEM, Mass., November 18, 2006 - Springfield College junior guard Christine Cotter (Stoughton, Mass.) scored 15 of her game-high 20 points in the second half to go along with five rebounds and two steals as the Pride rolled past the Coast Guard Academy, 79-53, this afternoon in the third place game of the Salem State College Tip-Off Tournament.
Cotter went 6-for-10 from the field in the second 20 minutes of play, connecting on two of her four three-point field goal attempts to help SC outscore the Bears by a 44-22 margin, sealing the Pride's first win of the 2006-07 season. Her game-best 20 points this afternoon, coupled with her 18 last night against host Salem State College, has earned the tri-captain All-Tournament Team honors.
SC sophomore forward Corey Finch (Hanover, Pa.) had a monster game for the Pride, grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds while scoring a career-best 15 points in a starting role. Finch made seven of her 10 field goal attempts on the day and also chipped in with four assists.
SC sophomore center Lauren O'Connor (Valhalla, N.Y.) recorded her second straight double-double on the season, netting 12 points and picking up 10 boards. Junior guard Tara McCarthy (Bristol, R.I.) also produced a solid game with 16 points, four assists, and four rebounds. The Pride starting five scored 70 of SC's 79 total points, as senior guard Amanda Hill (Cheshire, Conn.) added seven.
The 1-1 Pride will next face Williams College on Tuesday evening, November 21st, in a 5:30 p.m. start at Blake Arena in SC's home opener.
