MIT (23-5, 7-0 NEWMAC) took control of the match early, winning the first two games by identical, 30-26 margins. The Engineers were led by junior middle hitter Briana Stephenson and senior middle hitter Caroline Jordan, as the two combined for 27 kills in the win, with 14 and 13, respectively.
SC (21-5, 6-1 NEWMAC) came roaring back in the third game, however, taking the set by a 30-23 score to keep the match alive. Junior middle blocker MaryKathryn O’Neil (Liverpool, N.Y.) helped lead the comeback effort, racking up 15 kills and a team-high six blocks (one solo) in the match.
