



SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 28, 2005 – Springfield College senior opposite Ashley Reves (Orchard Park, N.Y.) paced the Pride with a team-best 13 kills and four service aces to go along with eight digs as the Pride downed New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe, Clark University, 3-0, on Wednesday evening, September 28, in Blake Arena.
The win improves SC to 13-3 overall on the season and a perfect 4-0 in conference play. The Cougars fall to 3-11 and 0-4 in the NEWMAC. The Pride came out firing in game one, tallying 17 kills and a .375 hitting percentage. Outside hitters Aylene Ilkson (Baldwin, N.Y.) and Jody Pfeifer (Northglenn, Colo.) each added five kills for SC.
Junior Leah Hettrick (Meriden, Conn.) had another steady performance at the libero position for the Pride, totaling a team-high 17 digs in the affair. Senior setter Alesia Vaccari (Winsted, Conn.) added 22 assists.
Clark University senior middle blocker Kara Scimeca compiled 10 assists and four kills for the Cougars.
SC will next travel to its fourth tournament of the ’05 season as the Pride competes in the Bates Invitational on Friday and Saturday, September 30-October 1.


Moira Long will enter her first season as head women's volleyball coach in the fall of 2011. With over 300 victories as a Division III women's volleyball coach, Long will continue Springfield's proud tradition as one of the top programs in the country.
