Men's Gymnastics Wins New England Championship
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., March 9, 2003 – Springfield College freshman
Ted Brown (Westfield, N.J.) took first place on the pommel horse (9.100) as the Pride captured the New England Men’s Gymnastics Championship in Blake Arena this afternoon.
SC junior
Tim Goetz (South Plainfield, N.J.) had a fine afternoon, including a first-place finish on the still rings (8.500), followed by sophomore
James Nixon (Somerset, N.J.) who finished second in the event (8.450).
In the all-around, SC junior
Michael Smith (Salt Lake, Utah) placed third (48.450). Smith also finished fifth on both the vault (8.650) and the parallel bars (8.300).
For Southern Connecticut,
Scott O’Cain placed second in the floor exercise (8.950)
