Wlosek and Rhodes Named 2008 NEISCA Division III All-Stars

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - May 19, 2008 - The duo of Samantha Rhodes and Michelle Wlosek continue to pile up the postseason awards as each was named to the 2008 NEISCA Division III All-Star Team. The New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association voted on the awards to compile a first and second team, along with honorable mention selections.

Wlosek was chosen as the catcher on the second team, while Rhodes was awarded honorable mention accolades.

A native of Mendon, Mass., Rhodes was nothing short of brilliant this season, especially in the NEWMAC Tournament. Rhodes finished with a 22-7 record on the season, and became just the fourth 20-game winner in program history. Her 22 wins were tied for second-most all time in a single season in Springfield history. She finished with an ERA of 2.11 and had 143 strikeouts and just 33 walks. Delivering in the clutch, Rhodes threw every pitch in the NEWMAC Tournament as the Pride claimed the league crown.

Hailing from Nutley, N.J, Wlosek continued to thrive for the Pride in her second season at Springfield. Wlosek led the team with a .424 batting average, and had a slugging percentage of .683. She finished with a team-high 59 hits this season, including 12 doubles and eight homers, to go along with a team-best 37 RBI.
