SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 6, 2005 – Springfield College junior midfielder Michelle Bongiovanni (W. Springfield, Mass.) scored the lone goal of the match for the Pride (68:00) as SC went on to tie Western New England College (WNEC), 1-1, in non-conference action tonight at SC's new soccer complex.
The Pride (1-0-1) outshot the Golden Bears (1-1-1) 18-4 and maintained a one-goal lead until WNEC junior Ashley St. John tied the game up with 16:50 remaning in the second half.
Pride goalkeeper Amanda Petri (E. Granby, Conn.) surrendered just one goal on four shots, while WNEC goalkeeper Marisa Sullivan recorded eights saves and allowed one goal.
SC will next host Westfield State in yet another non-conference match on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
