SPRINGFIELD, Mass., September 19, 2005 - Springfield College senior Meg Young was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Runner of the Week, Monday, after finishing second overall at this past weekend's (Sept. 17) UMass-Dartmouth Invitational.
Young, who hails from Hurley, N.Y., covered the muddy five-kilometer course in a time of 18:37 to place second out of 264 runners at the Invitational. Young paced the Pride to its 11th-place finish out of 35 competing teams in the field. The 18:37 time for Young marks her personal-best at the Dartmouth course.
SC totaled 301 points to place 11th, with Colby winning the meet (43), followed by Amherst (88) and Tufts (123).
The Pride next travels to Williams College for its Invitational this weekend, on Saturday, September 24.
