Springfield, which has now lost three one-goal games this season, falls to 3-5. Bowdoin improves to 5-3.
Bowdoin opened up a 4-2 lead after the opening period and extended its lead to 6-3 at the first half. Back-to-back goals from Joe Macchi and Tyler Montgomery just 26 seconds apart cut the Polar Bears' lead to one with 9:26 left.
However, the Polar Bears responded with three of the game's next four goals to extend their lead to 9-6 with just over 11 minutes remaining in regulation. After Bowdoin's final tally of the game at 11:34 off a goal from Mike Giordano, Jake Beebe connected with Kyle Gable just 10 seconds later to bring SC within two.
With 2:39 on the clock, Kyle Louer found the back of the cage to cut the lead to one, but that was as close as the Pride would get.
Tom Albano made 13 saves in goal for the Pride in the loss.
Keith Bugbee enters his 26th season as head men's lacrosse coach at Springfield College in 2008. Under his direction, the Pride is one of the top programs in New England. Bugbee's coaching record stands at an impressive 267-126 (.679 winning percentage). Read more.
