SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - May 8, 2005 - The Springfield College men's and women's lacrosse teams both learned, Sunday night, who they would be playing in their upcoming NCAA Divison III Tournaments.

The SC women will host Eastern Connecticut State (12-6) on Wednesday, May 11, at 7:00 p.m. on Benedum Field in a first-round game in the 19-team field. The winner advances to play at No. 1 Salisbury (14-0) on Saturday, May 14, at 11:30 a.m.

The No. 12 Pride men will host Wesleyan University on Saturday, May 14, at 7:00 p.m. on Benedum Field in a second-round matchup in the 17-team field. If SC wins, it will advance to play either Middlebury College (14-1), or the winner of the play-in game between Keene State (10-4) and Endicott (14-3), on Wednesday, May 18.

This is the first time in SC history that both the men's and women's lacrosse teams have made the NCAA Tournament in the same season. The women, which will be making their second NCAA appearance in four years, upset No. 18 Wheaton, 12-10, in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Tournament championship game (April 30) to earn the conference's automatic bid. The Pride men defeated Western New England, 8-7, in the Pilgrim League Tournament final (May 7) to earn the program's 10th NCAA Tournament appearance, including its fifth berth in the last six years.
