

NEW HAVEN, Conn., March 5, 2006 - Springfield College sophomore Cara Chadbourne (New Salem, Mass.) captured the floor exercise event (9.500) as the Pride, ranked third in GymInfo’s latest Division III poll, fell to Division II Southern Connecticut State University, 182.875-181.525, this afternoon at Moore Fieldhouse.
The Pride took the top three spots in the vault, with freshman Penelope Bohunko (Wilkes Barre, Pa.) scoring 9.50, junior Jillian Silverman (Ipswich, Mass) scoring 9.40, and freshman Jacqueline Mazzola (Framingham, Mass.) recording a 9.375 score. Silverman also placed second in the uneven parallel bars with a score of 8.825.
For Southern Connecticut, junior Erika Pysh posted first-place finishes in the uneven parallel bars (9.225), balance beam (9.55), and the all-around (37.225).
The Pride will next travel to Ursinus College for the ECAC Division III Championships on Saturday, March 11.
