NEW LONDON, Conn., April 23, 2005 -- Springfield College senior Amanda Alpert (Saugus, Mass.) remained undefeated this season in the shop put with a throw of 37 feet eight and 3/4 inches as the Pride won the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday.

SC scored 129 points to win the meet, followed by Coast Guard (110), Conn. College (106), WPI (98), and Worcester State College (77) rounded out the top five teams in the 13-team field.

Pride sophomore Natasha Landon (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) took first place in the pole vault (9-6) while sophomore Kelli Rand (Westbrook, Conn.) was victorious in the long jump (15-7.75).

In the running events, junior Meghan Young (Hurley, N.Y.) won the 5,000 meters in 18:34.27, outdistancing the field by over 1:20. Freshman Kristyn Meade (Raynham, Mass.) was victorious in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:02.29.
