MIDDLETOWN, Conn., December 3, 2005 - Springfield College freshman Silvienne Krosendijk (Seroe Biento, Aruba) took first place in the 200-meter dash and the long jump, as the Pride dominated the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 3).
Krosendijk jumped 17 feet, eight and ¾ inches to win the long jump by over two feet; she won the 200-meter dash in a time of 27.25 seconds. Pride senior Yasmin Goris (Worcester, Mass.) ran to victory in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.36 seconds. The Pride also raced to victory in the 4 x 200, 4 x 400, and 4 x 800-meter relays.
In other field events, SC junior Nicole Wassell (Hebron, Conn.) took first place in the pole vault with a seven foot, six inch vault. Pride freshman Amy Walter (South Burlington, Vt.) won the triple jump with a leap of 32 feet, one inch. The meet was a non-team scoring competition.
The Pride travels to Harvard University on Saturday, December 10 for its final competition before the winter break.
