SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 10, 2006) – Greg Levings of Springfield College fired a 73 today to finish in a tie for 14th at the Tim Brown Men’s Golf Invitational, hosted by Skidmore College at Saratoga Spa State Park in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
The course was a 6,950-yard, par-72 layout.
As a team, Springfield finished 13th of 14 squads with a score of 646 in this two-day event. Skidmore “A” captured first with a score of 6-under par 570. Finishing second was NYU with a score of 602 (+26), followed by Salem State at 604 (+28), Skidmore “B” at 606 (+30), Hobart at 612 (+36), Williams at 613 (+37), Keystone at 621 (+45), Rensselaer at 624 (+48), Oswego State at 625 (+49), and rounding out the top 10, WNEC at 626 (+50). Castleton State was 11th at 628 (+52), Manhattanville was 12th at 641 (+65), Springfield was 13th at 646 (+70), and MCLA was 14th at 648 (+72).
Levings, a junior from Averill Park, N.Y., finished 14th among individuals with a total score of 150 (+6). Greg shot a 77 in the first round. Toby Spector of Skidmore was the medalist. Spector won a one-hole playoff over NYU’s Mike Leibfried. Both had scores of 142 (-2).
Freshman Craig Difranco was second best for Springfield with his 73-79=152 (+8), tied for 20th. Junior Michael LaJoie (Enfield, Conn.) was next for the Pride at 86-80=166 (+22), tied for 60th. Junior Bryan Anderson (Enfield, Conn.) was fourth best at 87-91=178 (+34), 69th alone.
Up next, Head Coach Joe Eadie’s troops will play in the Middlebury Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, September 15-16.
