Men's Gymnastics Sweeps MIT and Vermont
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Feb. 6, 2005 – Led by senior All-American
Nelson Jimenez (Salem, N.H.), the Springfield College men’s gymnastics team defeated University of Vermont and MIT today in its home opener in Blake Arena.
The Pride took first place with a solid score of 195.275. Vermont, which is a club team, was second (173.525) and M.I.T. was third (172.450).
Jimenez won three events. He placed first in the all-around competition with a score of 48.600, the rings (9.00) and high bar (8.250). Junior All-American
Aric Hines (Greensboro, N.C.) won the parallel bars with a score of 8.350.
The Pride will head to Cambridge, Mass., to face M.I.T. again next Saturday, Feb. 12. SC is back in Blake to play host to Division I Temple on Sunday, Feb. 20.
