NEW BRUNSWICK, Maine , Jan. 29, 2005 – Springfield College junior All-American
Billy King (Wilmington, Mass.) won the 400 meters (51.20) and placed third in the 200 (23.32) to lead the Pride to third place out of five teams at Bowdoin College on Saturday.
MIT won the meet with 184 points, followed by Tufts (163), SC (109), Bowdoin (96) and Gordon (0).
SC senior All-American high jumper
Justin Welch (Woburn, Mass.) shared first-place honors with sophomore teammate
Jeff Cogan (Walworth, N.Y.) , who both lept 6 feet, 3 1/2 inches. Cogan also placed third in the triple jump (42-3 1/4).
Other place winners for the Pride included senior
Blake Gulino (Old Saybrook, Conn.), who took second in the long jump (22-5 3/4), and junior
Pat DeRocco (Utica, N.Y.) who finished second in the 800 meters (1:59.80). Senior All-American
Matt Acciaioli (Warwick, R.I.) was runner-up in the shot put (51-7) followed by sophomore
Alex Kampersal (Natick, Mass.), who set a personal best by two feet to finish third (50-6 3/4). SC freshman
Joe Debuc (South Hadley, Mass.) ran to second-place in the 55-meter hurdles (8.17)
The Pride travels to Medford Mass. on Saturday, February 5 to take part in the annual Tufts Invitational.
