SPRINGFIELD, Mass., March 10, 2003 - Michael Myers is the right man to re-establish Springfield College men’s tennis as one of the elite program in New England.
From 1985 to 1995, SC won six conference team titles, and produced 25 individual and 14 doubles conference champions. SC’s men’s tennis program, which dates back to 1909, has an impressive 524-340-16 all-time record.
Junior Yuta Yoshi (Yokosuka, Japan) will move up from #2 singles to #1 this spring. Yoshi was all-NEWMAC selection last season, and was chosen the conference rookie of the year in 2001. Sophomore Rich Aseltine will start at #2 singles after red shirting his first season at SC. Junior Chris Sweeney (Waekfield, Mass.), an all-NEWMAC pick at #3 doubles with junior Brad Boisvert (Ponaganset, R.I.), will move up to #3 singles, while Boisvert looks to prove himself as a solid #4. Junior Chris Brouses (Delran, N.J.) and sophomore Tim Losee (Berlin, N.H.) will fill out the Pride’s top six.
On the doubles side, Yoshi and Aseltine will team up at #1, while Sweeney and Boisvert will move up to #2.
