A storied tradition of success at Springfield College was reinforced in 2008 as the Pride went on to capture its fifth Molten Division III National Championships in front of a packed Blake Arena. SC captured its third consecutive national championship in 2003 with a win at previously top-ranked Juniata. It was the first time a Division III men's volleyball program had won three straight national titles.
At the 2002 national championship, the Pride toppled the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III National Poll to capture its second straight national championship.
The Pride has finished No. 1 in the final AVCA Division III National Poll an impressive six times (1996, '97, '01, '02, '03, '08).
In the 2008 season, Springfield hit its stride when it counted as it claimed the national crown. Paced by the middle blocker duo of second team AVCA Division III All-American Andy Sipe and first team AVCA Division III All-American and Newcomer of the Year Cal Palumbo, the Pride rattled off a 20-7 record in '08.
