Under the direction of head coach Keith Bugbee, who enters his 25th season in 2008, the Pride won the 1994 national championship, and has participated in 11 NCAA Tournaments and 10 ECAC Championships. Thirty-seven of his players have received All-America recognition.

In 2006, the Pride appeared in its fourth-straight NCAA Division III Tournament. SC has been in the NCAA Division III Tournament six of the past eight years and nine times overall. In 2001, SC recorded a 16-2 mark, a No. 5 ranking in the final national poll, led the country in scoring (17.78 goals/game), and reached the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Springfield has advanced to the Pilgrim Lacrosse League's championship game in all eight years of the League's existence and has won the game six times.

The 2008 Pride will be led by senior long-stick midfielder Chris Sharpe, a 2007 First-Team All-Pilgrim League selection and 2006 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division III All-New England Second-Team honoree. Junior attackman Jake Beebe led SC in scoring in 2007 with team-bests 26 goals, 28 assists and 54 points. Beebe, the 2006 NEILA Division III New England Rookie of the Year, and junior midfielder Chris Jez were named First-Team All-Pilgrim Lacrosse League in 2007.

Sophomore attackman Joe Heney was the 2007 Pilgrim Lacrosse League Rookie of the Year while junior midfielder Jake Jones and sophomore defensman Mike Smith were second team selections.
