Under the direction of head coach Keith Bugbee, who enters his 26th season in 2009, the Pride won the 1994 national championship, and has participated in 12 NCAA Tournaments and 10 ECAC Championships. Thirty-eight of his players have received All-America recognition.

In 2008, the Pride returned to the NCAA Tournament and were led by Pilgrim Lacrosse League Player of the Year Chris Sharpe. SC has been in the NCAA Division III Tournament seven of the past nine years and 10 times overall. In 2001, SC recorded a 16-2 mark, a No. 5 ranking in the final national poll, led the country in scoring (17.78 goals/game), and reached the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Springfield has advanced to the Pilgrim Lacrosse League's championship game in all nine years of the League's existence and has won the game seven times.

The 2009 Pride returns 10 seniors as well as 78% of its scoring output from last season. Leading the charge on attack will be Jake Beebe, who tallied a team-best 65 points in '08. Along with Beebe, the Pride will be paced by the play of First-Team All-Pilgrim Lacrosse League selections Jason Farrell, and Sam Burrell, as well second-team selections Mike Smith, and Tom Albano.
