Springfield College Athletics Kicks Off 2010 Fall Season Springfield, Mass. - August 27, 2010 - The Springfield College athletic year kicks off this week with plenty of action as it hosts four tournaments and a football game on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Sept. 3-5). The women's volleyball, field hockey, and the men's and women's soccer teams will serve as hosts of tournaments during the weekend, while football opens up its season on Friday evening. Read more. |
Kiki Jacobs Named Associate Director of Athletics at Springfield College | |

Springfield, Mass. – August 13, 2010 - Kristin “Kiki” Jacobs has been named the new associate director of athletics at Springfield College, according to Springfield College Director of Athletics Cathie Schweitzer. Jacobs has been the associate director of athletics at Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio since 2006. While at Oberlin, she supervised 14 head coaches and 22 varsity teams relating to budgets, NCAA eligibility, contest scheduling, and transportation. Read more. |

Springfield, Mass. -- August 16, 2010 -- The Springfield College football media/photo day is set for Tuesday, August 17 at 1:30 pm at Amos Alonzo Stagg Field on Alden St. Members and coaching staff of the football team, including head coach Mike DeLong, will be taking photos on the field and in the stands for approximately 1 1/2 to two hours. Hartford, Conn. - August 12, 2010 - Ty Evans competed in the senior men’s competition at the 2010 Visa Championships at the XL Center on Monday evening and finished 30th in the all-around competition out of 43 competitors. The Visa Championships, USA Gymnastics’ national championships, features the country’s best gymnasts vying for national titles and spots on the U.S. National Team. Read more. |

New Orleans, La. - July 29, 2010 - Senior Steve Headley continued to earn national recognition, this time for his work in the classroom, as he was one of four student-athletes to be named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Scholar Athlete of the Year. Springfield, Mass. - July 30, 2010 - 15 members of the Springfield College men's gymnastics team were recently selected as All-American Scholar Athletes by the College Gymnastics Association. As a team, Springfield had the fifth-highest grade point average among 15 teams in the country, totaling a 3.225. Read more. |

Lexington, Ky. - July 26, 2010 - The Springfield College women's volleyball team was one of 450 programs to receive American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Honors for the 2009-10 season as announced by the AVCA. The Pride earned the AVCA academic distinction along with 74 other Division III institutions. Read more. |
