Extensive athletics facilities support a College that has earned an international reputation as a pioneer in physical education since 1885. These facilities support an exceptionally competitive and successful Division III athletics program as well as a rich variety of intramural sports and recreational activities to promote health and wellness.

The New Field House, New Wellness Center, and New Athletic Training/Exercise Science Complex
The new Field House, new Wellness Center, and new athletic training/exercise science complex embrace the College’s longstanding commitment to physical fitness and wellness. These state-of-the-art facilities will encompass approximately 150,000 square feet of new and renovated space and will serve as the premiere fitness, recreation, and wellness facility on campus. Classrooms, labs, and offices in support of athletic training and exercise science will also be part of the complex. Designed to meet the needs of student-athletes and coaches as well as those of the community as a whole, the new facilities will open in August 2008.


The Wellness Center

The Wellness Center
The 28,000 square foot Wellness Center, located closest to Alden Street, will offer cardio and weight training space, a climbing wall, four multi-purpose teaching/activity spaces, and a faculty office complex.

The Field House
The 93,800 square foot Field House, located behind the Wellness Center, will incorporate a six-lane running track, four multi-purpose courts, each with the ability to be closed off by a netting system, locker rooms, strength and conditioning facilities, storage, concessions, and restrooms.

The Athletic Training/Exercise Science Complex
This two-story 17,800 square foot Complex will provide students and faculty with interactive and experiential learning environments as well as dedicated research space for the study of all aspects of wellness and human performance. The new athletic training room will provide student-athletes access to athletic health care at the highest level.

Blake Physical Education Complex
The Blake Physical Education Complex, the largest facility on the campus, includes:


James Naismith Court

James Naismith Court/Blake Arena:

the competition site for men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, and gymnastics, as well as wrestling. The floor is covered by Connor Neo-Shock maple wood that allows for a variety of activities such as athletics contests, classes, lectures, and shows. The roll-out bleachers accommodate more than 2,000 spectators. When the bleachers are closed, there is room for two regulation-size basketball courts. The arena includes a three-lane indoor jogging track.


The Fitness Room:

includes a new line of Cybex equipment, Stairmaster 4000PT stairclimbers, Lifestyle and Biocycle stationary bicycles, Nordic Trac cross-country skiers, Concept II rowers, and treadmills. It is used as a fitness center for employees, and serves as a rehabilitation site for students recovering from injuries.


Dana Gymnasium

Dana Gymnasium:

an air-conditioned instructional facility with Connor Neo-Shock maple wood floor. It contains teaching stations for such skill courses as basketball, volleyball, and tennis and serves as a practice site for several varsity teams and intramural contests.



Handball/Racquetball Courts:

eight courts with maple wood floors.



Keith Locker Room

Keith Locker Room:

spacious and comfortable, with carpeted floors, a stereo sound system, and state-of-the-art pro-style lockers.



Wrestling Room

The Wrestling Room:

one of the best facilities of its kind in the nation, with two full-size wrestling areas. It is also a teaching station for martial arts, relaxation courses, and other related skills classes.



Kresge Gymnasium

Kresge Gymnasium:

the primary teaching and practice area for the College’s nationally recognized gymnastics teams. It is air-conditioned and has a flexible design and portable apparatus that enable the faculty to use it for additional physical education courses.


The lower level of the Physical Education Complex houses classrooms, athletics training facilities, an equipment room, and lockers and showers.

Appleton Tennis Courts

Appleton Tennis Courts:

eight full-size courts, used for numerous championships; accommodate the needs of physical education classes, athletics teams, intramurals, recreation programs, and summer camps.


Art Linkletter Natatorium

The Art Linkletter Natatorium:

a six-lane, 50-meter facility, home to one of the region’s top swimming and diving programs. The diving area has two one-meter cheese boards and a three-meter tower with two, three-meter cheese boards. The Natatorium is the site of regional and national championships and is used for training national swimming and diving champions and Olympic competitors.


The Athletics Annex:

an airy practice area with batting tunnels used for baseball, softball, golf, and archery.


Berry-Allen Field

Berry-Allen Field:

the baseball complex features dugouts, a new scoreboard, and bleachers, as well as a newly constructed press box. It has been the site of several NCAA and Conference championship competitions.


Stagg Field

Stagg Field:

the competitive field for football, field hockey, and men’s and women’s lacrosse, with bleacher seating for 3,867. It is also used for physical education classes and intramural sports. The field is lighted for night games and has a heated and airconditioned press box. The field was resurfaced with monofilament FieldTurf® during the summer of 2007.


Black Track

Blake Track:

a new Eurotan all-weather surface; features eight lanes that are wide enough for wheelchair racing. Its lighting system permits night track and field events, with spectator seating for 1,420.


Blake Field:

surrounded by the track, the field is used for field events, intramural sports, and as a practice facility for soccer and lacrosse.


Potter Field

Potter Field:

among the best softball fields in NCAA Division III; renovated in 1997 with new dugouts, fencing, playing surface, new scoreboard, and press box.


Irv Schmid Sports Complex

Irv Schmid Sports Complex/Brock-Affleck Field:

recently renovated complex with two regulation size FieldTurf® soccer pitches situated side-by-side. The entire complex is lighted, has bleachers and a pressbox, and is used for men’s and women’s soccer; football, lacrosse, and field hockey practice; intramurals; and skills classes.


Judd Gymnasia

Judd Gymnasia:

constructed in 1894 and expanded in 1911, Judd served as host to some of the first basketball games in history. Today it has two sport/exercise floors, an aerobics room, baseball locker rooms, and coaching offices.


Townhouse Weight Room

The Townhouse Weight Room:

state-of-the-art weight lifting facilities for use by teams and individuals. 


Wellness Center

The Wellness Center:

equipped with state-of-the-art cardiovascular and strength training apparatus and a well-trained staff to help users attain their fitness goals.
