Tayla Pessolano WELLESLEY, Mass. – October 11, 2008 - The Wellesley College tennis team defeated New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference opponent Springfield College, on Saturday afternoon to remain unbeaten in NEWMAC play. Amy Shaw Northampton, Mass. - October 7, 2008 - The Pioneers of Smith College defeated New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival Springfield College 7-2 this afternoon. Springfield College dominated New England women’s tennis from 1985 through 1996, posting an amazing 137-25 record that included a 14-0 mark in 1990, and won eight consecutive New England titles from 1986 to 1993.

With an all-time record of 301-179-4 heading into 2008, the women’s tennis program has a winning percentage of .626.

Two Springfield College players were named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Academic Team in 2007. They were Sarah Russo '10 and Jessica Sousa '08.
