Pancoast, Pennington, and Thompson Sweep NEWMAC Weekly Honors Springfield, Mass. - January 9, 2012 - After impressive showings at a tri-meet with Union and Hartwick over the weekend, three members of the Springfield College swimming and diving teams were honored by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). About The Team
After finishing 12th at the NCAA Championships last year, the 2011-12 Springfield College women's swimming and diving team is poised to continue its success this season.
Head Coach
John Taffe, who enters his 23rd year at Springfield College, will begin this season as a six-time NEWMAC Coach of the Year. Taffe believes that this year's team possesses the appropriate mix of experience, depth, and youth.
Head diving coach
Peter Avdoulos enters his 27th season at SC since graduating from the College in 1985. Avdoulos is a four-time NCAA Division III Women’s Coach of the Year. He is also a five-time NEWMAC Coach of the Year, as Avdoulos has coached three separate National Champions (Nora Kelly, Lindsay Moore, Alison Mellage).

Diving Coach Peter Avdoulos

Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and is entering his 27th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2011-2012. The current NEWMAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year, Avdoulos has coached countless All-New England and All-American divers, as well as several National Champions.
