Runyon Named USILA Honorable Mention All-America and Selected to Play in North/South Game Springfield, Mass. - May 25, 2011 - Senior Shawn Runyon received a pair of honors by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) after a standout season for Springfield. Under the direction of head coach
Keith Bugbee, who enters his 29th season in 2012, Springfield has established itself as one of the top men's lacrosse programs in the country. Springfield won the 1994 national championship and has participated in 15 NCAA Tournaments and 10 ECAC Championships. Forty-one of Bugbee's players have received All-America recognition.
The 2011 campgain was filled with history as Bugbee became just the seventh coach in NCAA men's lacrosse history to win 300 career games, in addition to becoming the all-time winningest coach in New England lacrosse history. As a team, the Pride advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season as it was led by two-time Pilgrim League Player of the Year,
Mark Eaton. In 2009, the program received distinct recognition as Pilgrim League Player of the Year
Jake Beebe was selected by the Boston Cannons in the Major League Lacrosse draft. In 2001, SC recorded a 16-2 mark, a No. 5 ranking in the final national poll, led the country in scoring (17.78 goals/game), and reached the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Springfield has advanced to the Pilgrim Lacrosse League's championship game in all 11 years of the League's existence, has won the game nine times, and has been in the NCAA Division III Tournament nine of the past 11 years.
