



Minneapolis, Minn. - March 19, 2010 - Brian Sobel finished second in the country in the one-meter diving competition on Friday evening at the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.The junior capped off a great weekend the national meet as he previously finished seventh on the three-meter board on Thursday evening. After missing the first semester with an injury, Sobel returned to form in the second half of the year as he earned his second-consecutive New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) crown.
Sobel totaled 527.90 points en route to finishing second in the nation as he took home his second All-American honor of the week. Nathan LaRowe from SUNY Potsdam won the national championships as he scored 548.00 points to top the field.
Teammate Matt Fitzgerald earned Honorable Mention All-American honors as he placed 12th with a score of 431.60.
John Taffe enters his 23rd season in 2011-2012 as the head coach of the men's and women's swimming teams at Springfield College. Under Taffe’s leadership, the Pride has returned to its status as one of the best collegiate swimming and diving programs in Division III. Read more.
Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 27th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2011-2012.
