



Complete ResultsSpringfield, Mass. -- September 19, 2009 -- Zach Pietras led the Springfield men's cross country team to a 10th-place finish at the UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational today in North Dartmouth. Pietras, a freshman from nearby Ludlow, finished 44th for the Pride as an individual. His time was 26:03.
As a team, Springfield scored 341 points.
Placing 68th was sophomore David Birdsall (Madison, Conn.) at 26:27. Behind him were junior Jacob Brewer (Woolwich, Maine) in 72nd at 26:34, junior Steve Creamer (Seekonk, Mass.) in 78th at 26:44, freshman Ryan O'Connell (Middleboro, Mass.) in 79th at 26:45, junior Troy French (Antrim, N.H.) in 85th at 26:54, and freshman Anthony Salvucci (Burlington, Mass.) in 86th at 26:55.
Next Saturday, both the men's and women's teams will be at the Williams Invitational
Bryan Brown will enter his first as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2011. Brown, who was a former All-American at Springfield College in track, will take over a program which has finished in the top three at the NEWMAC Championships in each of the past seven seasons .
